Mexico Asi Te Vi

A return to the unknown familiar

México, Así Te Vi is a visual diary of return — a collection of black and white images taken during my first visit back to Mexico City after decades away. Presented in a 1:1 format, this series captures my attempt to reconcile memory with present-day reality. These photographs are not meant to be objective. They are filtered through time, distance, and emotion. I did not go back to rediscover the city — I went back to see how it had changed, and how I had changed in relation to it. What I found was tension: between the old and the new, the permanent and the fleeting, the myth I carried in my head and the city that kept going without me. The familiar corners had shifted. The rhythm was both foreign and intimate. What I remembered no longer existed — and yet it was everywhere. This series embraces that dissonance. Using high-contrast black and white, I aimed to strip away distraction and get to the emotional core of each moment. These are not postcards or celebrations. They are personal impressions — my Mexico, as I saw it.
